Nevis Island

We went to Nevis Island week before last for a much needed vacation. For those who aren't familiar it's located in the Caribbean by Antigua and St. Bart's.

We flew into St. Kitt's and took a boat to Nevis Island, which you will see was absolutely beautiful. Here's a pic from our boat ride in...

Weeee!
We were immediately greeted with Rum Punch, mine virgin of course, but I actually made John double check since it did not taste like it. Our hotel and staff were unbelievable. I guess 80% of the employed island works at this hotel, so tourists are their only source of income. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and treated us like royalty. Every morning leaving our room it was,"Good morning Mrs. Mawbry", and we couldn't turn a corner without being offered sorbet or a cool peppermint towel. Even when I tried to open my own umbrella at the pool, the service lady would rush over and tell me,"Mrs. Mawbry your job is to relax". She opened my umbrella and rolled a towel to place under my back. Well okay then. Also our room was cleaned at least twice a day, which made John one happy camper. Here's a few more pics...

We had dinner with my company three out of the four nights, where we enjoyed amazing food and entertainment. Our night we had dinner on our own we walked to this place just down the beach called Sunshines. It's known for their lobster and Killer Bees (Rum with some sort of grapefruit/fruit punch concoction) and frequented by celebrities such as Mel Gibson and Kelly Ripa, according to the pictures on the wall. The bartender made it clear, that was before Mel Gibson went crazy. Apparently, you're only meant to drink these Killer Bees, since when I asked for water they told me they were out. Seriously? So I just ate ice.= / Anyway it was quite the experience and the Killer Bees made for some very fun people watching.

We had two days to choose from activities such as hiking, a catamaran and snorkeling tour, golf, shopping in St. Kitt's, services at the spa, horseback riding etc. What did I choose? Not one, but 2 massages. Seriously, could I have been any lazier? Apparently I took the pool lady's advice to heart, and I don't regret my decision. John golfed one day and joined me at the spa the next. We had such an awesome trip, it was hard to get home and rush back into the busyness. The only bad part about being gone is I was so sad to miss my niece's, Cam, 3rd birthday party and one of my best friend's, Jenny, baby shower. Love you both!
Cam with her new apron about to help bake her cake

She's quite the poser if you can't tell. When you ask her to say cheese, her hands go straight on the hips. =)
She asked for "ba-lue sparkly shoes and a ba-lue ice cream cone shirt". Of course Meg/Martha made the shirt.

I know what you're thinking, what about Hank? =) Hank was fine although, he did give me the cold shoulder for the one day I was home, for leaving him for a week. He stayed with John's parents, and had plenty of quality time with Grand Betsy and Grand Jim's cat, Mary Kay (Kiki). Here's a pic that pretty much sums up Hank and Kiki's relationship.

I had to go to Dallas the day after we got home for meetings the rest of the week and I think John was picking up on my nesting vibe. I got three emails on Wednesday confirming he ordered the crib, rug, and a little accent chair for the nursery. =) After a typical delayed flight on Friday, me and my incredibly swollen feet came home to John and Hank waiting on the front porch, a clean house, dinner on the table, and my pajamas laid out.  Happy weekend to me. I'm one lucky lady.

Here's me at 22 weeks (I'm 23 now).

You are SO CA-UTE! I know you told me about your trip, but I loved reading it again and seeing the pretty pics. What an amazing place! I'm so glad you have a blog so I can follow your baby bump! I also love Jenny's bump. How adorable is she?!
